Color Run Baltimore 2013

Last weekend we hit the Color Run up in Baltimore. Billed as “the happiest 5k on the planet” the Color Run can be seen as a low intensity, and more playful, alternative to the Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder. Whereas the Dash and Mudder are filled with buff and determined athletes the Color Run is more home to housewives and their kids.

The run is loosely based on the Indian festival of colors (Holi) though it has no religious or political meaning that I’m aware of. As you run thru the course there are areas where they fling colored cornstarch dust into the air for you to pass thru. At the beginning each color has its own station then at the finish line they gather everyone up and have them all throw smaller bags of various colors into the air. It’s good dusty fun and just about anyone can get thru it.
