I’ve got a new favorite pair of shoes that’s darn near perfect for travel: a pair of Clarks Desert Treks. I bought them last winter and now I pretty much wear them everywhere. They’re incredibly comfortable for walking all day or just hanging out. This is largely because the crepe sole pads all your steps perfectly and the loose fit of the boot doesn’t cramp your feet even if you wear them for extended periods. They are also very flexible in the style department as you can wear them with just about anything this side of gym clothes or a tuxedo. For travel, where attire needs are always a bit fluid, this is a great bonus.
I’d tried the Clarks Desert Boots before but they were a bit narrow for me. The Treks fit perfectly. I’ve ordered a pair of Clarks Wallabees as well and look forward to giving them a try.
I’m so enthusiastic about these shoes (and perhaps eager to garner some Google Adsense revenue) that I’ve built a whole site dedicated to them: Clarks Boots. You can find info on Desert Boots Clarks, Wallabee Boots, Desert Trek Boots and cleaning of beeswax leather and crepe soles. Go have a gander.
